Senate Bill 2080 became law on July 1, shifting authority for issuance of consumptive use and environmental resource/management and storage of surface water (“MSSW”) individual permits from water management district governing boards to district staff. In order to ensure continued in-person public input in the permitting process, the St. Johns River Water Management District will conduct monthly meetings on pending permit applications. The meetings will be held at the District’s headquarters at 4049 Reid Street in Palatka. The initial meetings are scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon on July 28, August 25 and September 29. Agendas for the meetings will be posted on the District’s web site seven days prior to each meeting. The public will continue to have the right to provide district staff with written comments on pending permit applications.
